Delicious coffees and cakes

We’re improving our ‘visitor experience’ at East Jordeston.

We’re improving our ‘visitor experience’ at East Jordeston.  We’ve been beavering away this year and we’re excited to introduce our swish new reception!  We now have a place where guests can collect their keys when they arrive,  pick up information on the area and also relax over great coffee and cake in our lovely surroundings.  We hope it will be a place where guests can meet, children can make new friends and everyone can swap ideas on great places to visit.   We’re always keen to pass on our favourite haunts so we look forward to sharing time together too!

Phil has also put his designer’s hat on and we now have a lovely new signpost to welcome everyone to East Jordeston.  The sturdy wooden post, made in Wales, is the first indication to our guests that they have arrived at East Jordeston and we’d like to think it gives a warm welcome to all.  It certainly can’t be missed!

Building excellence award for The Lodge

The Lodge – winner of the South Wales Award for Building Excellence!

The Lodge – winner of the South Wales Award for Building Excellence!  After achieving the Pembrokeshire County Council annual Building Excellence Award in the category for Home Extensions and Material Alterations, we are excited to share the news that The Lodge at East Jordeston Cottages was chosen from 9 area entries, as winner of the LABC (Local Authority Building Control) South Wales Region ‘Building Award’ 2014

At the recent presentation dinner and ceremony held near Cardiff and attended by over 400 guests, Jamie and Hannah were presented with the award by host Owen Money MBE (Merthyr’s Best Entertainer!  – you may need to be Welsh to get that one!).  The Lodge will now go forward to compete against the North Wales winner in the next stage of the awards.   We are all absolutely delighted!

The LABC awards were set up 12 years ago and are intended to encourage, recognise and reward excellent building standards,  through technical innovation and environmentally sustainable buildings, constructed to a high standard.   Nominations for the award are chosen by the LABC officers in each region.

Do have a look around our award winning property.

The Lodge

The Lodge receives a Building Excellence Award 2014!

The Lodge receives a Building Excellence Award 2014!  We are delighted to share the news that The Lodge at East Jordeston Cottages has been chosen to go forward to the South Wales Regional Awards after achieving the Pembrokeshire County Council annual Building Excellence Award in the category for Home Extensions and Material Alterations.  What an exciting achievement!

The award, for the recent renovation of a former bungalow to stylish 3 bedroomed house, recognises excellence from a construction and technical building control point of view.  The designer and building team will ‘have had to tussle with technical issues and will have used innovative and creative solutions’ in the overall improvements to the existing property.

The clean cut Scandinavian styled design by ‘in house’ architect Philip, uses a laminated beamed structure throughout, supporting the roof, balcony and large glazing elements to the east and west elevations.   Along with the addition of two spacious first floor chalet style en-suite bedrooms, this has greatly improved the property’s proportions and therefore appearance, interest and style.

Much of the renovation work was carried out by the family team at East Jordeston with the skills of specialist contractors when required and we are all proud of what The Lodge brings to the portfolio of cottages on our site.   To have the project endorsed as the best in it’s class by professionals in the field is fine praise indeed!

Our thanks go to everyone involved in making the project a success and we look forward to welcoming many guests to experience a stay in this award winning property!

New Luxury Pembrokeshire Cottage

New luxury cottage in Pembrokeshire!

The Lodge 2010, East Jordeston CottagesNew luxury cottage in Pembrokeshire!  At East Jordeston Cottages we are all very excited to introduce ‘The Lodge’, a former holiday bungalow, which over the past two years has undergone a super stylish makeover!

During the very cold winter of 2010 the detached cottage suffered serious water damage following burst pipes in the attic, so rather than repair it like for like, a family decision was made to say goodbye to the endearing bungalow as it was and bring it right up to date with a clever architectural renovation.

Phil got to grips with an ambitious design, whilst Jamie enjoyed the workout of the demolition, resulting in the cottage being stripped back to its four sad looking block walls.  During fine summer weather a massive crane installed the fantastic laminated wooden structure and the new house (it now has an upstairs!) began to take shape.  Months of decision making and hard work – much of it done by the family, with specialist tradesmen brought in when required – has come to fruition and the property has been reborn as a fabulous, spacious 3 bedroom (all en suite) dream escape!

Previous guests to East Jordeston may well remember the pre 2010 image of the original bungalow which itself was spacious, open plan and enjoyed sunlight from every aspect.  Returning guests who have seen the renovation in progress have commented that it rivals many a ‘Grand Designs’ project!  We look forward to welcoming all visitors to The Lodge and getting their views on the new chic retreat – bookings are being taken now from late June throughout the summer.
